'Post-pay" PAYG?

Hi there,

I currently have a PAYG mobile on a service that I have used for some years now. I am a low volume user and the reason I remain on the tarif is that it is 'post-pay' PAYG... I use what I need and then get invoiced (and pay via Direct Debit) after I use it. I don't have to worry about top-ups or running out of credit. It is ideal for me.

I have recently, however, considered using the phone for other uses - namely GPRS and MMS - which the handset is capable of, but that the service does not provide.

Having had a look around for alternative services it would appear that there is no such thing as a post-pay or invoiced PAYG service anymore. Does anyone know of such a service that would allow occasional access to internet and multimedia features?

Many thanks,
Tom.

Virgin have always offered Pay As You Go by direct debit but it has steadily been getting less and less competitive:
20p/minute all calls, 10p for texts, 20p/call voicemail and 30p/day for mobile web but with a 25MB limit.

    The Phone Co-Op offer:
Choose 3.9p/min landlines and 11p/min mobiles OR 6.9p/min to mobiles and landlines
    6.9p per MB for data
    6.9p/min for voicemail
Min call charge of just 1.15p (1p+VAT), per second billing
Picture messaging 31p, video messaging 69p, video calling 75p/min
There is a £1.96 per month line rental charge so it's not quite no line rental.
The only thing is that you will need an unlocked 3G handset.

As you say, there are not many invoiced options like this available.
  • Virgin stopped offering the pay by direct debit service back in April, but it's still available for customers who were already on it. TBH it's not the cheapest way to pay for calls!

    Hi there,

    Thanks for all the comments.

I had a look at Virgin before I posted as I had heard about them doing it before, and could not find anything.I have just had a look at Talk Mobile, but cannot see anything that is comparable. They are all pre-pay, or contract unless I have missed it.

The phone co-op one is interesting. I have not seen that one before. Not quite what I am after, but worth a second look.

The Three one looks like it may be what I am after so I will investigate that one further, although I am not sure that my phone is compatible.

    Tom.
