Hi people,
My friend has asked me to build him two webshops for him, he wants a reasonable looking website with the ability to accept payments on line.
He would prefer it to be free or at a small cost.
Can anyone give me any pointers?
Cheers

free or at small cost?
sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you want a free or low cost store that takes online payments then you are asking to get hacked!
There are packages out there that will let you get a store up and running in no time at all but good hosting is essential and that costs money, there are also free shop packages around such as oscommerce but they are quite complicated for a beginner, what sort of features/requirements does your friend want? what sort of stuff is he planning on selling?
regards

Oscommerce (http://www.oscommerce.com/) is not too difficult to set up, there are a LOT of online guides and forums and it can easily be skinned to look just how you want it to. It will integrate with Paypal, Worldpay and just about every other shopping cart there is. It is certainly a good place to start0

OSCommerce is definitely the way forward if you're looking for free.
They aren't that complicated if you get the newest version. The forums are a great place to get help0 -
Virtuemart and Joomla are a powerful free web commerce solution.0
