Natwest - Cheque Clearance

Hi there,
Can someone help me as am at the end of my tether with Natwest.
I went into my branch on Monday 07/09 & paid a cheque into my account, at the time I asked the teller when the cheque would be cleared in my account, (after her snootily asking why I wouldn't be leaving the money in my account for them to offer me a fantastic interest rate), & she advised 2-3 working days, I asked if that meant including Monday, yes she confirmed it would.
The website also states that a cheque will clear in 2-3 working days although it can be "bounced" anytime up to 7 working days.
I called the telephone banking yesterday & was told I had been mis-informed & that cheques always take 7 working days to clear, so no money can be removed from my account until Tuesday 15/09, a bit miffed as this wasn't what I was told in branch by a teller.
So, went up to the branch again today to speak to a lady there & find out what the actual story is, she has now told me that the teller was wrong & their website is wrong & the funds won;t clear until Wednesday 16/09....WHAT?!?!?
Does anyone bank with Natwest & know their processes as no one, ne it banch based or telepbanking based seems to know when I can actually take money out of the account.
Thanks in advance!

2-4-6 day processing time.
The money can be in your account 4 working days after the cheque was cashed. However it can still be taken away from you for upto 6 days. So between 4th and 6th working day you can spend the money but the cheque can still bounce.
They were all right.
The money will be in your account on 4th working day.
The money will not be fully cleared until after the 6th working day.0 -
Thanks for your quick reply, have wedding deposits to pay so was starting to fret, especially when not one person could give me the same answer.
Have spoke to my solicitor, (where the money is coming from), & he has confirmed that the money is out of his account.
Feel a bit like the TV ad where the bank manager says they use your money to fund the Directos nights out, LOL
