Hello, im trying to find some software that will list folders/files in a specified place.
I have tried googling and searching here, but cant think what to put in to find it.
Basically, I specify a folder, and the program would list all folders/files within that folder and output them ina text document or similar.
Is this possible, im sure ive heard of it before
Thanks
Laurie

You can use the 'dir' command in dos. To do this follow these steps (Assuming you are ruuning windows xp)
1. Goto start>Allprograms>accessories in the windows start menu and open "Command Prompt". Type the following in the black box that appears
2. Type Dir Folder Path /b >>FileName with path
I.E. Dir C:\Windows /b >C:\test.txt
The example will but the list of files in c:\windows in a file on the c drive called test.txt
3. To open the file cdouble click 'My Computer' then Double cliock 'Local Disk (C:)'
Double click test and you will have a list of files
I hope this helps. If you need any more info just PM me.
P.S. To include all files in sub directories too use the /S switc aswell.
I.E. Dir C:\Windows /b /s >C:\test.txt0 -
There is a program out there that will do exactly what you're after, although it's not free.
Stratopoint Print Folders will give you the option of listing files and folders in three different formats. HTML, plain text, and unformatted plain text.
The link above will give you the option to download this for a free trial. After the trial period, you have to buy it for $14.95 (about £8).How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

You could try this one, Koolguys Listmaker. As far as I know it is free. By the way the link is to PCworld the comp magazine and not pcworld the shop.
