Are there any websites I can check out to find some vouchers or atleast deals for eating out in Dublin? Heading there next month and well...no matter where I go in the world..always nice to save a few quid or in Dublin's case..euro ;)

I tried this last year but i think that there arent any about at all.

We found Dublin extremely expensive to eat out. Expect around a tenner for a main meal. (I suppose its all relative as it depends on where you live and what you usually pay for a main meal)

There are lots of mcdonald places down O'connel Street,

We sat down in a fish and chip shop, had fish and chips x 2, beans and a cup of tea each - £23 or £24 .

Wheter you have kids with your or not - the Zoo is brilliant.

Taking buses, always have the right coinage, they dont give change and they dont accept notes.

Buying sandwiches - there are a couple of supermarkets down the side streets
where the butties are much cheaper.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Thanks...I haven't been to Dublin since 2002 so surely things have changed heh.

I have heard though that eating outside of Temple Bar is a better option but hmmmm.

No kids but the depending on the weather...the Zoo is on our list of thiings to do.

As far as transport goes..we were gonna invest in a Rambler card so having change won't be needed *phew*.

Hi, went to Dublin before kids went back to school but we ate at mcdonalds in o connoll street as it was easiest option and we knew that the kids would at least eat it. I was disappointed but there's always next time. Before we went I did a little homework and found menupages.ie (sorry not sure on links) but if you google menupages.ie it will bring up lots of details of special offers on food places in dublin, all areas.

On the bus front we stayed in travelodge outside of dublin (ballymun), got bus into Dublin, we got on bus asked for one day family rambler ticket. This gets use of all buses covered on dublin bus network (don't think this is hop on/off buses) for up to two adults and four children. Advice for this was on this wonderful site. Anyhow we got on bus and was told by driver had to purchase ticket at small supermarket over the road not on bus itself. Did notice when we got back to airport later that day that there was a dublin bus desk at the airport near entrance so could probably purchase ticket there. Even without using the Hop on/off service it was excellent value. Hope this some help.

Temple Bar area can be expensive but most of the restaurants are offering an early bird menu for around 10 Euros and offer cards or discount leaflets outside of the restaurants. We sat outside a small restaurant in the square there and had a panini and drink for 6.50 Euros and enjoyed people watching.

If you are flying in for the day buy the Family Rambler day ticket at the Dublin Bus kiosk on the left hand side of the exit doors then get the 747 airport express bus from the rank in the middle of the road.
