Hello
I inherited around 140k just over a year ago, I currently have all the money in savings accounts and an ISA which all pay around 4.5 - 5% interest. I am single, 31yrs old, living with my long term girlfriend, we have no dependants. We both work, I earn about 22k a year and have a final salary pension. We rent our house but the rent is very cheap in a lovely location so am not desperate to buy.. However the rent may not stay cheap forever. Wouldn't mind early retirement either. Any ideas on what to do to maximise this money.

What you are asking for is specific financial advice and we cannot give that on the forums here as it would be in breach of FSA rules. However, we can give some pointers and some discussion points to help you in your research. To do that though we would need to know what you plan with to the money, what sort of accessibility you need, what your risk profile is, what your tax status is, to name just a few.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

Why not look at selfbuilding a home near to where you currently live ?
You have varying degrees of involvement in the project, so don't need to be a builder or anything ! Typical return 30% on a property...you could maybe build 2, one after another, and then make enough cash to have a nice house and own it outright.Doing my best as a contrarian investor...property, banking...let's see how it goes0
