Asda Smartprice Vs Tesco Value

  • I am going to have to vote for Sainsburys basic range as well. I stopped doing my main shop at Tescos earlier in the year. They have in my opinion got very expensive, and their value range is very hit and miss. Sainsburys fruit and veg is also of a good quality imo. Can't comment on asda as nearest one is 12 miles away!!
  • Agree with the majority here - Sainsburys basics all the way! Not saying there's a massive difference in price but the quality is sooo much better. And Sainsburys are a far more ethical retailer - their basics tea bags (28p for 80 and superb!) are fair trade, as are their basics bananas. Plus their basics tuna is line caught and their basics eggs are barn eggs, not caged (check out the price of barn eggs at both asda and tesco and you will see they are twice the price of Sainsbugs basics eggs!).

  • anopther thumbs up for sainsburys basics, i love the tea bags and won't be going back to pg tips.
  • And here's another vote for Sainsbury over both Tesco and Asda for their value ranges.

  • I disagree - ASDA all the way.

I have tried out a range of the Tesco, Sainsburys and ASDA's basic range and believe ASDA to far outweigh the others. There is more of a range in the smartprice brand and the quality is great.

I do believe though that Aldi is better than all of them put together for quality at the same price but hey i get 5% discount vouchers with ASDA on top from my employer so that balances it out!

  • I don't have access to sainsbo's or Asda so I use tesco value on quite a few items, most things in their range are really very good. We prefer their biscuits to brand name ones which is great as the price difference is massive on some of them, tinned toms, spaghetti and peaches are also good enough for us. What has surprised us most of all is value teabags, my OH had previously always been very fussy about his tea, he drinks lots of and like it strong and before he would only drink tetley, but earlier this year we bought a tesco value pack to try and he loves it so we've bought it ever since., it's only 28p for a pack of 80!
  • I'm another convert to Sainsbury's Basics range! When he came with me shopping recently OH was a bit disconcerted when he saw just how much of the trolleyload was orange and white! I buy all the veg, rice, pasta, biscuits, fish etc as basics and complement with more expensive items like Taste The Difference sausages and organic milk. I have decreased my shopping bills since shopping there, while upping the quality, and OH had not known the difference.

    It's only a game

  • Has anyone tried Sainsburys Basic White Chocolate ? It is nicer than milkybar imo.

I think tesco has became very pricey over the last few months. Sainsburys were always that tiny bit more expensive than everyone but every bit of food is far better quaility e.g. Sainsburys basics are still nicer than asda or tesco's next brand ( Above value and smartprice)
