:DDear all, I asked about this on the charities/small biz forum and although I had a really useful reply I don't think I had really thought through what I was looking for.
I work for a charity with 2 other workers and a large group of mainly elderly volunteers. I'm looking for a calendar that can be online and to which some can contribute/edit and some read only. The 3 of us who are staff mostly work remotely too, which is why we need a web-based calendar to help us all to organise our time and arrange when we can all get together etc. I've looked at Google and one or 2 others but they all require the users to set up accounts and I think our volunteers really won't want to do that, some aren't websavvy and a bit worried about using it but will be able to use one in the library etc. I was hoping I might find something where they could just log onto the calendar with a password but not have to set up a whole google/windowslive/yahoo etc profile or account Is this possible?
Many thanks

You could set up a Google calendar and then install Sunbird (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird/) and then install the Google provider (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/sunbird/addon/4631). This would alow each user to view and or update the calendar from their own computer without the need to create Google accounts.
Not perfect but it would certainly work for you.0 -
google calendar is fantastic. I too would reccomend this.
But a big downside of the google one is that different events can't be shown in different colours which would make it hard for some of my people to pick out the bits they need to know about as we only want one calendar for everything. Also they need to set up their own google accounts to do this which will confuse some of them, and some might not want to do this. Or have I got this wrong. I was hoping I could maybe set up and manage it, which obviously I could in google or any of the others, and they could access and add to mine using a simple logon but without having to set up whole accounts.
Not all have of them have computers either but would be able to use a friend's or public library pcs etc.
Thanks
