Used less than £14 gas since June, this low?

Options
Hi, just had a gas bill and we have used less than £14 in over 3 months, would anyone say this is high? We have had the hot water on 2 or 3 times a week for an hour and we did have the heating on for an hour or 2 over the last few weeks on the days when the wind and the rain meant it got a wee bit nippy, also have a gas hob which is used about an hour a week.

CC limits £26000

Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

    That seem far too low.

Are you sure that the the start, or end, meter reading on the bill is not estimated?

i.e. you paid too much on your last bill, or not paid enough on this bill.
  • Some boiler's pilot light would use almost as much as that. As Cardew says, check out your bill.

my gas bill was £45 for the last quarter. may 15th to august 17th with ebico. (accurate readings with ebico, i also read my meter weekly.)

new combi boiler, 2 adults. just baths and water for dishes etc.hardly had heating on in this period.
  • I assume you are using an electric shower to wash ?

  • Ours is slightly more than that, about £20 for the same period but we've got a new baby so have plenty of washes and baby baths in that time in addition to our normal usegage. So i'd say it looks about right.
  • My Gas was £18.37 for 3 June - 7th Sept, no heating just been used for the hot water... [2 adults]

  • How do you get your gas bills so low? We're only heating water for 1hr am and 1 hr pm and ours is much higher usually. We don't cook with gas.

I'd love some help to get ours down.

We are due our summer bill at the end of this month but our bill for 26 Mar - 30 June was £67.67 inc vat. We used very little heating in Mar/Apr - I think 2hrs a day on the colder days.

We don't have an electric shower so need hot water for baths, washes and hair. There are 4 of us. Where am I going wrong? Any tips?

You need to take accurate readings and record them I use imeasure dot co dot uk and track my usage.

I use 3 cubic meters of gas a week when the heating is off. This is showers, and hot water. If I turn the heat store on the combi off I use 1 cubic meter per week. My gas bill in the summer months is just over 10 pounds per month, but I pay more to accomodate the winter months.
  • We used £14.76 since June. This is gas hob, gas central heating (not on) and combi boiler for daily showers/baths (3 of us) and hot water for washing machine and dishwasher.
We take a reading once a month and track it in an excel file which also then calculates the monthly cost - is worth doing as we have been able to change our monthly payments around and prove it when southern electric have been less than keen to agree.
