My local Morrisons again has Philips low-energy lightbulbs for 99p, buy one get one free. That was in the Acton branch, London, but I expect the offer is countrywide.

Thanks for the tip Quasar.

I'll move your thread over to the 'Shop but don't drop' board, where it should get more views.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

Thanks.
I bought some from Morrisons last time these were on bogof. I was well pleased, as when I actually used them they are shorter / smaller than the usual low energy bulbs, which tend to stick above/below the shade. (If these are the same ones ?!)Therefore are much more discrete.
Trying to save pennies where I can, and use these all over the house, in lamps if the mail light fitting is not suitable.

Thanks Nile. I was wondering where to post this.:o

I bought four 60w bulbs - they had stacks and stacks of these. I really need some 100w ones but they didn't have any, so I will keep my eyes open for them.

Yes they are the shorter ones, and I was very pleased about it too.

I have all my lighting on low-energy now, and the savings do show.:)

Presumably you can change them back to the original on/off switches ? I have a few rooms with dimmers - kids bedroom etc, and I have been thinking of swapping them back now.
Only fittings I don't think will take low energy are the kitchen etc with halogen bulbs (ouch - expensive to buy and run) and spotlights.
Noticed my local sports centre have energy saving bulbs in the 'sunken/recessed' light fittings, so even they are watching the pennies.:o

Hi Quasar

I missed these when I was in there last (Acton is my local branch too!). Where abouts are they? I usually get there too late or find that they are tucked away somwhere! Mind you I shop and run, no time to browse.
I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

My local morrisons (Reigate) only has bayonet low energy bulbs on offer.

Anyone know where's cheapest to get screw fit (E27) low energy bulbs, preferable a reputable brand of bulb. I find the ikea ones are rather slow to warm up compared to philips.

cheers

Richard
