Microfilter/Broadband Query

Good evening all,

I am after some help if possible. When ever the phone rings, the internet drops the connection for approximately 30 seconds then comes back again. There are 2 sockets being used (one for home phone and other for printer/fax), and each has a microfilter fitted. i have replaced the filters once and has no affect.

This problem has only just started in last 4 weeks. The broadland has been working fine for last 2 years. I am with Talktalk, and the problem affects all computers on the network.

Any ideas?

Thanks Rich

One possibility is a fault with the equipment at the exchange.

Each line needs the equivalent of your microfilters at the exchange end to separate out the b/b signal from the telephony. It's possible that this has developed a fault.

Report it as an internet line fault to TalkTalk. Good luck because initially they'll be wanting you to change the filters.....

You mention a home phone and fax/printer, but do you have your router plugged into a microfilter too?

I'm sure you do, but just checking :D

Thanks for all the advice, I was guessing there may be something outside my control causing the problem. I will make some sandwiches, and a flask of coffee, and wait my turn with talktalk....
