Hi I need some help for my son. He is at college, not uni doing a BTEC nationals for IT practitioners. He is 20 and to stay on this course needs to get his maths and english GCSE. the fees for both these are £700.00:eek:we cant afford to pay this and he is not working. Does anyone know if he can get a student account, a student loan or any help for this. Thanks in advance:D

Does he need G.C.S.E. specifically or just an equivalent?
Level 2 numeracy and english qualifications are free through learndirect
It may also be worth looking at Skills for Life
He's also likely to be entited to ALG

Hi MrsManda thank you for your help. He has to get the GCSE and he has applied for ALG but it is only abotu £30.00 per week I will check the other sites though Thanks:T

Thanks oldernotwiser He is doing a two year BTEC national and then he wants to go onto uni to do his degree in IT He has been told by college that 90% of unis will only accept the GCSE. He is not working as he is in full time study and will also be doing his maths and english courses on a night.
