Windows Messenger confusion - help please

I have the beta version 7.5 of MSN messenger.
Tonight, it asked me to download the new version.......... so I did and it then said it was WINDOWS messenger, which is not what I wanted (I had confusion with this when I first got the comp)
So I went back to restore point and to my old 7.5 version, but it wont let me use that now as it says I HAVE to have the new one.
Cann someone clear up for me the current difference between MSN messenger and Windows messenger ? Are they one in the same now ?

Its not Windows Messenger. Its Windows Live Messenger! Its the new name for MSN Messenger because Microsoft is rebranding alot of its products.
Hotmail will become Windows Live Mail
MSN Messenger Will Become Winows Live Messenger
MSN Today Will Become Windows Live Today
The Microsoft Passort ID Will Become Windows Live ID etc.
Nothing to worry about, you are getting once hell of a piece of kit, sometime between now and next year Windows Live Messenger will be able to comunicate with Yahoo Messenger aswell!0 -
