Hi
Can anyone help?
We placed an order with Harveys for a new wardrobe but when we got home realised it was too big. We telephoned the next day and told them. On checking the website could not find anything else so went down to the store to collect our deposit. The manager was rather rude and said he could not handle it and had to be done through head office and then they would send out a cheque even though we had paid cash. A few days later we were telephoned to say sorry head office will not authorise a refund. On telephoning head office they said it was not down to them but the store manager! Who now is on holiday!
Where do we stand?

Its your money, your entitled to it back.
Even though the manager is on holiday, there should be someone there with the authority to authorise refunds. Go down to the store and speak to them face to face.
If your up for it, if they dont give you your deposit back, stand outside the store and kick up a fuss, im sure that will grab their attention.
Failing that, write to the store and head office making an official complaint and give them 28 days to rectify the situation. If no response to your letter, contact Consumer Direct.0 -
Did you order the wardrobe online or at a store? If you ordered in a store they don't have to give your money back just because you did not check the measurements before hand. You might be lucky and get your deposit back but depends on the mood of the manager in my opinion.
How much deposit did you pay and are there no other wardrobes that are suitable?0 -
Thank you we did order in store and on checking the terms and conditions on the back you had 48 hours to cancel which we were well within. We have sent a letter of complaint so now we will just have to wait and see.
Unfortunately the only other suitable wardrobes are well out of our price range.0
