Best savings account

Evening everyone,

I have around £3000 on its way to me through inheritance and I'm looking for a good place to save it. Ideally, minimum notice with as much interest as possible. But I am happy to have a 30 day notice account if the interest is decent enough.

Any help anybody could offer is gratefully received.

Thank you in advance.

If you're a tax payer and don't have a cash ISA you could get a rate of 2.75% tax free on an ISA at www.if.com.

Alternatively, take a look at www.egg.com where you can have a savings account at 3.25% gross, 2.6% after basic rate tax is deducted.

Both these options have easy access - typically 3 working days to move money to a bank account if you choose to withdraw.

A look at www.moneyfacts.co.uk will help you identify alternatives.

Perhaps you should consider putting some of the money out of reach for a period of time - e.g. tie £1.500 up for a year or two where you won't be tempted to spend it.
