Critical illness with Cancer

Options
Hi,

Not sure if i'm posting this in right place, but seeing if there are any knowledgeable people here that would maybe know the answer.

First of all, I cant check my policy as Its lost and the company are sending out a new one, i'm also away from home for another week.

Basically I had testicular cancer, diagnosed 9 weeks ago, long story short, had an operation that has removed the cancer and after CT scan im clear to much relief. I missed 8 weeks of work and was on half pay. But now back working

My friend told me I should still be able to claim on my critical illness cover, I spoke to the company and explained truthfully the circumstances ie I'm back to work, and got the all clear, they told to me to submit a claim anyway and see if i'm entitled to a payout.

My question is, do they pay out just because I have had the illness, even though im clear now and working, my friend says they should has thats what the I have paid for, the fact that i got diagnosed should be enough for a payout. The company i have cover with also said that my kind of cancer was covered.

I dont want to ask the company too much in case i shoot myself in the foot.

Does this make sense, I hope so, its been a long day!!

Basically will i get a pay out even though im clear now and back to work.

Thanks so much

  • If they cover that specific type of cancer then yes, they should pay out.

CIC is claimable on diagnosis of a qualifying critical illness. There may be a condition stating you live for a certain period past that for the policy to pay, 9 weeks would be well past it.

  • I know the policy me and OH have states that we only have to survive 28 days from diagnosis to get paid out...regardless of whether we choose to be treated or not

  • Thanks for the replies. They have told me I am covered for testicular cancer, so i'll keep my fingers crossed that everything should go to plan and I get some much needed money from them, no idea how much it'll be, i pay about £30 a month for it so hopefully not too pitiful. Anything is better than nothing! thanks again for taking the time to reply.

It might say the payouts in the keyfacts
  • well i've just noticed in keyfacts.....Cancer include BUT less advanced cancers are excluded, i'm guessing i fall into that catogery, so prob wont qualify, only time tell. Would rather most definately have my health anyway so win win situation.
