What is R2 Price Protection - EON
Options
Hi all,
I too have received notice that my fixed rate is ending and that i will be moved onto the R2 dead on 1 Oct 09.
I have seen posted on this forum people been offered R1, R2, and R3. Can anyone explain the difference between them and which is best?
Also, does anyone know if EON have any better deals on at the moment? I would prefer to stay with EON (been with them years!), but would obviously like the best deal.
Thanks all!

Just about every deal E-on has would be better than those new "R" deals (if you can call them deals) they are stupidly expensive and I bet E-on are banking on people doing nothing and just automaticly transfering onto them.
Fixonline would probably be cheapest if you are looking to stay with E-on and fix your prices.
To get the best deal though its best to enter your Kwh into your comparison site of choice and see what comes up.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I've just had one of these letters as well, and I'm pretty p--d off that I can be switched to another 18month fixed rate without actually agreeing to it. Luckily I was not away or on holiday when the letter came. There is no mention of monthly charge, just a unit rate, which by itself is meaningless to me. Ah well, here we go again, shopping around as best as we can. They only give two weeks notice, crafty sods.0

Had a look through all their packages available to me and it looks like fixonline 3 is the best for me (i think!)
Like the R1 to R3, is there a Fixonline 1 and 2???0 -
No, its FixOnline version 3. Versions 1 and 2 are old tariffs and are no longer available for a new customer or those changing tariffs.
The R1 - R3 are the new Price Protection tariffs and it is dependent on your circumstances as to which one you are offered when your current price protection tariff is ending.0 -

Hi Ivrytwr3
The R1 to R3 tariffs are only being offered to customers now on one of the price protection tariffs ending on 1 October 2009. The terms of the tariff are the nearest currently available to the one you are now on.
These new tariffs guarantee prices will not increase above those signed up for until 2011. However, unit prices are higher than our standard prices. Therefore, this is not the cheapest product available.
It may be you no longer want a protected product and prefer to make savings now.
As Plushchris says, I would also suggest putting your usage on one of the comparison sites to see what is best for you.
The main difference between the three versions of this tariff is the end date of the product.
Your account will automatically transfer to the R2 tariff unless we hear from you.
Even if you do go on to R2 you can still switch to another E.ON product or change supplier without being charged an exit fee.
However, please be aware, we don't give discount on the final bill should you decide to change supplier. Therefore, it is important you time a switch away from us to lessen the impact of this.
Hope this helps but give me a shout if you need more info. Always happy to help.

Hi
Just thought I would let you know, my capped rate was due to end on 1st October and I was going to be swapped to R2.
I checked on here and the called up to change to Fixonline 3 and the bloke advised me that I will be £297 a year better off!
WOW.
Thanks for the help.
