Vertical or Venetian Blinds?

Which blind would you recommend?
I know venetian are cheaper to buy.
Are thinner venetians easier to keep clean?
Which would keep the heat in more?

personally - vertical are far easier to keep clean than venetian- but others on here may have found a quicker way of cleaning them than i ever did - (tie them on washing line and swish soapy water then clean water over them). I gotta say i havent noticed any heat retaining properties with either type of blind and i have had both kinds in past. I got roller blind in kitchen now! much easier to keep clean as it rolled up out of way when i am cooking.

having had both - venetions are a total pain to clean whereas verticals can be snapped off and washed in the bath and don't get as dirty anyway!

I have verticals at the mo but I feel that venetians look better - as verticals make it look like and office I always think!

I prefer venetian blinds (and yes there are easier ways to clean them!) mainly because being a nosy git, you can never see fully out of vertical blinds, whereas you can with venetian!

We have moved house and I am about to order vertical blinds from http://www.blinds-depot.co.uk/ a work colleague recommended them and they are very reasonable. Will make the size you need to order. Think they do all types of blind.

i recently had venetians made to order, they have the broad slats so are easier to keep clean.
Was more expensive having them made but they are better quality than those my friend bought from Argos for half the price so should last much longer.

I have both types of blind and would go for vertical every time in future.

The venetian is a pain in the derriere and will end up in the bin at some stage, the verticals are great and i shove the slats in the washing machine and iron them afterwards :D the only downside to the verticals is that my cat likes to lie on the windowsill so they get little black hairs on them which i have to sellotape off.

Verticals are sooooooo 'doctors waiting room ' ish:eek:
All the ole biddies nearby have them as they are a cheap way to cover the huuge windows we have.
Far prefere wooden venetian blinds ,not a pain to clean either ,just a damp microfibre cloth wiped over closed blinds with your free hand behind the blinds to support them, followed by a dry microfibre cloth ,once a week :T
