Can I put my thoughts in from the other side of being a high street conveyancer? I like my clients being able to pop in to look at things or sign things when required, and to check plans to make sure they know the extent of land they are buying or selling. Whilst we use email a lot these days, there are still many occasions when it's best to talk face to face.

And I find the 'call-centre' firms much harder to deal with than other high street firms - I am generally dealing with untrained staff who can do no more than what the computer tells them. It often leads to extensive correspondence trying to resolve matters and effectively telling people how to do their jobs.
  • I work for a high street conveyancer and agree with some of Cattis comments. I deal with clients abroad buying uk property and I never meet my clients, we use phone and email and I have no problems of not being able to talk face to face.
  • I would agree with the previous posters - on no account use countrywide property lawyers. They are worse than useless. They let down my buyer very badly and as a result my vendor got fed up waiting and found himself another buyer!
    Go local......

Can't agree more ! I have dealt with these and they are HORRENDOUS
  • I would highly recommend Waller Pollins in Edgware, Middx tel 020 8238 5858. Fantastic service - even brought papers to me to sign when it was snowing and I couldn't get to them so you can't argue with that service!
