Bought PS3 From CEX It's Not Only Faulty..BUT IT'S A FOREIGN CONSOLE!!

Hi,
I have been having so much trouble with a PS3 60gb that I paid £375 for From CEX store In Bradford!
It Stopped Reading The Discs after a year of use!
So I rang Sony As It Was After The 12 Month Warranty,When I gave Them The Serial Number They Said "No That's Not Right"!..."What Do You Mean I Replied?"..."One Minute,Let Me Just Check"..."Yes I Thought So,The serial Number You've Given Me Is For A Foreign Console"
Well you can imagine what happened next!...Of Course Sony can't Fix The Console In The Uk.
"But If I Ever Travel To The U.S Of A You Can Maybe Get It Fixed"!Said The "LOVELY" Man From Sony!
"well" I said "seeing as I Have No Intentions Of Travelling To The USA To Get Something Fixed That I Bought In The Uk,What Do You Reccommend That I Do?"...."I DON'T KNOW" Said The "LOVELY" Man From Sony!I Put The Phone Down Not Too Gently!
Anyway,I Have Since Took the Console Back to CEX In Bradford,When I Told Them About It,They Admitted That They Shouldn't Of Sold Me It,As It Was A Foreign Console,The Serial Number Is Also On The Receipt! But Instead Of Doing Anything,They Got The Security Guards To Remove Me As I was Not Happy That The Manager Of The Store Had Admitted That They SHOULD NOT OF SOLD ME THE PS3!So Because I said I Was'nt Moving Until The Manager Got On The Phone To Talk To Someone In A Higher Position,I Was FORCEABLY REMOVED FROM CEX IN BRADFORD!And May I Just Point Something Out Here....I Am A 35 Year Old Woman With 4 Children...Height 5ft3inches & 7 & A half stone!
I Was Not Happy!.....I Cried All The Way Home!
I Have Since Learnt,From Being On The Internet Constantly,That They Have "Broke The Law" By selling Me A Foreign Console,As It Is "An Omission Of Fact"...Where If The Retailer had Told Me That The Console Was Foreign,And If Anything Was To Happen To It I Couldn't Get It Fixed Would I Have Bought It?...NOT ON YOUR Or THEIR LIVES!Therefore it is an "Omission Of Fact"
Where I Am Now...This Is The Email I Sent To CEX's Head Office

Dear Sir/Madam,
Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended)
On 10/12/2007, I bought a PS3 60gb Boxed from you for £375 which is not fit for purpose made known.
The problems are:

The PS3 Is Not Even A UK Version, It’s Foreign! And I Am Going Down This Route First To See If We Can Work This Problem Out This Way, I Have Rang Consumer Direct Who Have Told Me That You CEX Are In Breach Of The Sale Of Goods Act 1979,I have already been to the Bradford Store Where I spoke to the Manager There Named Ollie, Who Admitted That The Console Should Not Of Been Sold To Me As It Was A Foreign Console, CEX Staff Did Not Mention This To Me When I Was Buying The Console, Which Is Called An Omission Of Fact, Where The Staff At CEX Bradford Should Of Told Me That If Anything Was To Happen To The Console, I Would Not Be Able To Get It Fixed! I Would Not Of Handed Over £375 Of My Hard Earned Cash If I Would Of Known This Fact! Therefore CEX Have Broke The Law By Omitting This Fact As It Would Of Changed Wether I Would Of Bought It Or Not! Please Do Not Tell Me To Take It Up With The Manufacturer, As I Have Been In Touch With Consumer Direct, Trading Standards, OFT, Plus Many More Agencies, And I Now Thoroughly Know My Rights On This Matter! I Was Fobbed Off In Your Shop By The Manager There, Who Admitted That The Console Should Not Have Been Sold To Me, As They Would Of Known Because It Was Foreign If Any Fault Had Occurred With The System, I Would Not Of Been Able To Get The Console Fixed!
I Would Be Very Grateful If You Could Get Back To Me A.S.A.P As This Matter As Been Going On For Too long Now! And A Lot Of Money Has Been Spent On This PS3-Inc-Games,Extra Pads, Microphones, Remote Control, Earphones, HD Cable, etc, The List Goes On And On!
Please could you get back to me as quickly as possible with your solution to this problem, I Would like You CEX Head Office to come to an amicable decision to this problem with me, and resolve this problem as quickly and as uneventful as possible! And not leave me any choice but to take this matter further!

I wish to reject the goods and claim a refund.
Please respond to my complaint within 14 days from receipt of this letter.

Yours faithfully
They Do Not Have A Phoneline Number I Can Ring,PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Can Someone Tell Me What My Next Move Should Be?...And How Do I Find Out The Number For Their Head Office?Their Website Just Has An email address wecare@webuy.com How UNCARING COULD THEY BE???
Thank You In Advance To ANYONE Who Even Takes The Time To Read This...All Replies Very Very Much welcomed Thanks Shifty2468

Sounds Like You Don't Need Our Advice - You've Taken All Of The Necessary Steps So Far.
  • I'm not being nit picky but can I ask why you have put an upper case letter at the start of most of the words in your post OP? Surely this is quite time consuming! I'm hoping you didn't send the email with upper case letters used for every word as you have done in your post. Also the grammar used in the email is awful.

I'm not a grammar or spelling nazi, in fact i can make some terrible mistakes but when you send letters or emails like this to a company, it is very important to get things right. When posting on here, you can be as grammatically correct or incorrect as you like but when sending letters or emails to complain, you should run it through a spell check and a grammar check.
  • Heya I believe that the capital letters thing is because they wrote the whole post in capitals and the forum does this as a sort of "auto-correct" I must say I didnt read the whole post because of it as my preggo brain couldnt handle it. lol

Good grief, now I know why it is only people on MSE who appear to have this habit. On the whole, I think it would be better to put the whole post to lower case, or just leave it in upper case.

  • Of Course they have Lied! the ps3 was in a Uk PAL version box, they are a games console & games specialised shop,so surely they should of picked up on the fact the ps3 was foreign from the serial number!?
The became faulty in april,The reason this as been so long from time of buying to sending the letter,is because after i had been to the shop when i was told by sony it was foreign,my Mum was dying of Cancer so I had other matters on my mind, this is my Son's PS3,that was bought for xmas. And they have spent hundreds and hundreds of pounds on new games etc for the ps3,these are supposed to last for 10 years not 16-18 MONTHS!!Surely I Have A case! They should of checked the console before selling to me,as a UK PAL VERSON!!
