Can I remove Windows xp programmes I never use, such as Movie Maker, Messenger? Also SHOULD I or not?
I make IMAGES to restore my pc to when I somehow mess it up! So I do not want unnecessary programmes making them larger them needs be.

Of you course you can remove them.
Just go to Add or Remove programs in the Control Panel, and go nuts.0 -
Yes. You can remove them.
The detailed steps are:
1. Go to Control Panel
2. Click Add or Remove Programs
3. Click Add/Remove Windows Component at the left side tool bar
4. Find the programs you want to remove in the list and then REMOVE.

Have you heard of nLite? You can use it to create a customised XP installation CD with various components and services disabled or removed completely. So you can delete all the non-UK keyboard layouts, remove the IIS service, etc.
It might be worth a look to create an initially "clean" installation, to reduce the size of subsequent images.0 -
In actual fact there is no official way of removing windows movie makers. you would need to do it manual0

Download Search Everything ,type messenger and all associated files will appear. Highlight one of them then edit/select all, right click and delete
