I thought that using ITC would reduce the stress for me. Everyone who uses ITC, having been "guided" by trusted banks or bereavement-trained local council staff expects to get a professional service.
The saddest thing about all of this is that there is nobody around afterwards to catch you when you fall...
Exactly Portlandboy, It's the impact on your very personal life that this company fails to acknowledge. My mothers death will be the biggest hurt in my life but I will, and have adjusted to the fact that she is gone. However, what will never leave me (and still affects me today) is the horrendous time after her death and the unmendable consequences of getting ITC involved. I still cannot believe the aftermath that ITC created and this will be the most painful memory of my mum's death,......the nightmare I had to live through (and still suffer from the consequences ) due to taking what I believed was good advice.
It will be the 4th anniversary of her death next month and I still have not fully grieved for her because I have had to deal with the consequences of my brother and ITC Legal Services. The name ITC will always be associated with the time after losing mum, and that angers me. That company has impacted my life beyond repair.
This month, I have moved out of the area where I have lived happily for many years. It was the area where my mum lived for 33 years and where my family home was. I stayed in the area after she died as I needed my friends and neighbours to get me through this but sadly, I have not been able to live my life without looking over my shoulder in fear of my brother (who lives in the area too) This man will never let me be and will never EVER believe that I was not responsible for the information/misinformation he was given by ITC. MY REASONS FOR MOVING OUT OF THE AREA IS TO TRY TO LIVE IN PEACE. I want to go out the front door and not worry about being verbally accused of things I did not do regarding my mothers estate.
I was humiliated, intimidated and physically threatened in PUBLIC on the last occasion (last year) . Hence not being confident to go out any more.
Thank you ITC Legal Services. The legacy you left will certainly last.
These are just some of consequence of being a client of ITC legal Services0 -
And now, some more claims from The ITC Legal Services Website, which did not apply to me during my time as a client of ITC Legal Services
It can be a difficult time when you’ve lost someone you care about, and there’s a lot to deal with. You need to think about what happens to their property, money and possessions which make up the estate. This can be both confusing and time-consuming.
It’s also important to remember that whoever takes on the administration will be personally liable for the estate.
At ITC we do all we can to make the probate process as straightforward and stress-free as possible. Our experts will manage all the complexities on your behalf.
We’ll take care of the probate process for you, taking into account your specific needs.
:mad:Probate is a complicated and time-consuming process. There are strict rules to follow to make sure the estate is distributed correctly
I have something more to explain on my next post outlining mistake number 8. This particular claim about CORRECT DISTRIBUTION (like so many of the others) is another issue I will be raising with the Trading Standards in the near future.
And so the story continues on and on and on and on0 -
wow .... really wish we'd seen comments like these before we decided to go with ITC .... Mum died last October leaving her Financial affairs in impeccable order ...the 6-9 month deadline as been and gone and we feel no nearer to closure. The level of service can only be described as very unprofessional ...We have had no real updates only scant conversations in which we/my brother instigated, we've lost count at how many times we've been told ...'just another six weeks' and to top it all we have just spent the last few days being totally ignored by the Case Manager ..who apparently appears to spend more time 'out to lunch' (The Sex Pistol's 'Pretty Vacant' keeps coming to mind... how apt!!) ...or 'on the other line' than actually working on my mother's case.
We have now lodged a complaint AND consulted the Legal Ombudsman so lets see if that brings any developments .... I ain't holding my breath!!0 -
Isn't there anyway we can get together as a group to force these "cowboys" into compensation?
I recognise so many of the posters complaints in my own experiences...
This company has be nationally highlighted for its poor professionalism..
Once again _ DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!0 -
Please please please take my advice when I say don't be frightened of probate. You can do it yourself and save a massive amount of money in the process. Thank god that this website exists. Without it my sister and I would have paid out an awful lot of our mums money to a bunch of charlatans and spent months being given the runaround. The representative that first visited us told us it would take about 80-90 hours of our time to do probate ourselves... utter rubbish. We contacted all the necessary companies and completed the paperwork ourselves and today spent 10 minutes in the probate office signing paperwork and swearing an oath. I have no legal training and spent the first 4-5 weeks after losing my mum feeling like I was sleepwalking through life but my sister and I did it ourselves. if I can be of any help to anybody please don't hesitate to ask.0

And the saga continues. Just another example of their incompetence. After receiving a letter at the beginiing of October confirming the termination of our contract and that there would be no charges, I received another yesterday demanding £683.00. There's more chance of me entering next years Olympics than giving them anything. I even begrudged putting a stamp on my reply to them. Fortunately I kept the original and have sent them a copy.0

Ah, but that isn't a "charge", that's probably a "disbursement"!
I think that's called trying your luck.:)Note to Self: When posting, remember to keep within "forum rules" to avoid upsetting other "interested parties"0 -
I'm really shocked to see this. We have been using the company since a family member's home has been sold following their death.this company was chosen by the executor. it was sold in September, and still no monies received. Couldnt get any response for 6 weeks and then they wanted more docs to prove all household bills had been paid prior to house sale, then they have asked for proof water bill paid, and so it goes on. We are worried they are trying to pocket the £330,000, but having skimmed through this thread so far havent seen they have been guilty of this so far? We were concerned already they appeared unhelpful and incompentant, and it appears this is correct!
The stress of running around and constantly chasing this company is causing great family conflict. We have threatened them now we legal action due to their stalling.A clear and innocent conscience fears nothing.:grouphug:0 -

Hi,
I've not heard of ITC actually stealing the proceeds of a sale or estate at all, so that's good news.
However, they do have a track record of mis-calculating Inheritance Tax & Capital Gains Tax. They are holding a large amount of money that is rightfully yours and they are depriving you of the interest on that money too. I'm sure you can guess what happens to the interest (that they won't be paying to you) can't you? I doubt that they will be prepared to pass the lost interest (which could be up to £12000 over a year) to you unless you do use legal action. That, I'm afraid, IS one of ITC's usual little tricks.Note to Self: When posting, remember to keep within "forum rules" to avoid upsetting other "interested parties"0 -
Do we agree with the Grauniad news paper that these figures for a "professional" probate service are about right?
• Probate Beware solicitor and bank fees. Companies such as Final Duties promise to save 50% on the £16,000 a bank may charge for probate on a £400,000 estate or the £8,000 a solicitor may charge.
As a DIY survivor of Barclays Bank, I would not know.0
