    Hmm, can open, worms everywhere!

How about (as a cruelty free compromise) decorating sky lanterns with butterflies and "releasing" them? Play.com have them apparently environmentally friendly and inexpensive too :D

lol what like those on 4 weddings lol how funny
they nearly set a tree on fire
they were rolling all over the gounds none in the sky
if any one lives and wants these you can get them from a manchester market for £1 each and there huge x

Balloons are very dangerous to sea turtles, as they think they are food and eat them.

In my opinion it is cruel but an additional point is..I am absolutely terrified of moths and butterflies and would have a panic attack if thousands of the blighters flew at me! If you do consider it I'd check for phobias with your guests!! (or am I the only freak.....?)

I'm scared of them too - as is my sister.

1 or 2 is fine but large numbers freak me out - I hate butterfly houses and aviod them at all costs

your not a freak, my mum is so petrified of moths that she has panic attacks if one comes near her!! very small ones are ok but the bigger ones are worse!

No you aren't! I was just about to say the very same thing. I'm petrified of them and would either pass out or start screaming like a banshee if you did that when I was there.

It's a far more common phobia than one might think!

ETA - just read whole thread and seen you aren't having them after all!!
  • Whether its cruel or not depends on your views about animals I guess.

More importantly though, judging by this thread, some of your guests would think it was cruel, and other would be nervous of them.

Hardly a recipe for a nice day!
