None taken annie,
The policy like you said is to keep prices low by having less staff, which inevitably means that we have an awful lot to do often we have times by which certain things have to be done by. Depending on the size of the department you probably have between 1 and 4 staff covering it.
At my store you had a mix staffwise so you had some staff who would bend over backwards for customers and then those who didnt really care but those were quickly weeded out. The problem was we were often let down by the system so to speak so we would have customers come and say they had been told either on the phone or on the net that we had hundreds or thousands of an item in stock when in reality we had none.
It was difficult because everyone had always come from miles away but there was nothing we could do and we had to take a lot of stick while our managers were often awol. So far as stock goes we were encouraged to try and get as much stock out as possible but at the end of the day you are contrained by how much space you have.If no-one expected shirts to be ironed then we'd all have time for more important things:T0 -
I have looked in the bargain corner, nothing there, the shade is probably the part that would get damaged in the majority of cases anyway. I think we are going to try and buy a new fitting that will fit to the stem if all else fails. The orginal top has a oblong cup shape that the shade fitted in to so its unlikely we would find anything with the correct shape to fit into it but still hoping.0
