Re Gift Vouchers
Dear Top Shop,
I bought my wife a couple of gift vouchers to the value of £40 which she had been saving until she might receive some more as presents and thus be able to make a more expensive purchase.
She visited Brent Cross last night and was informed that the vouchers had expired and that they had a 24 month expiry date.
Neither the shop assistant nor my wife were able to read the small print on the terms and conditions and I have had to use a magnifying glass to read them. Surely, it would be good practice to mention an expiry date at the point of sale? And as for “small print”, surely a customer should be able to actually read it?
My wife often uses Top Shop when buying clothes for herself, our children or presents for friends and family. Her intention was to accumulate some more vouchers but this did not transpire. She visited Top Shop at Brent Cross last night to make a purchase for our son and decided to use the 2 vouchers.
She was desperately upset when she returned home. I rang ConsumerDirect for advice and they have said I should write to you to explain the circumstances and appeal for a replacement.

If there's no expiry date on the voucher, or the small print is so tiny that normal eye sight wouldn't be able to read the expiry date, then take the case up with Top Shop headquarters, as that is ridiculous!
HERE is a list of shops with their expiry datesShould've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
