Ikea or natuzzi!!

ARE YOU MAD!!

Well here goes, I need a leather suite for my kitchen and due to a position of a post it needs to be an angled. I have narrowed my search down to these.

http://www.cresta.co.uk/natuzzi/natuzzi-klaus-2086.html

I have been to view and it fits perfect, price is list at £2800 but with negotiations I'm down to £1900 delivered.

The other is this, again it fits perfect and when I went to try it the quality looked great and it was well made/really comfy.

It is also £800 cheaper but all I keep thinking is Skoda or Audi?

Can you get discount from Ikea?

what colours are you going for? i think on first impressions i prefer the expensive one, however if your concern is about quality, i have to say that i am currently sitting on my 12 year old ikea sofa, which has been HEAVILY used over those years and still functions perfectly. if i had been more careful on the arms and wiped off stains it would still look as good as new. i dont buy into this idea that ikea is poor quality, i have always found the opposite.

think about this, if you like both just the same, then 800 quid is a lot of money to spend just on the basis of the name.

if you like the natuzzi a little bit more, then is 800 pound going to be better spent elsewhere in your home, or in the bank or for a holiday

if you like the natuzzi a WHOLE lot more, then you might say 800 pounds is a viable spend because you are getting what you want.

We wanted the black with having 2 young children but the cream looked very nice in Ikea. The black chair didn't look great in ikea but the black in Natuzzi looks fab.

I'm edging towrds the saving as the TV spec can be increased!

    Thanks again
  • IKEA is amazing. Don't be such a snob. :p

Buy what works for you, what you'll be happy with, and then get as big a discount as you can muster. Then be pushy and ask for a bit more.

    Good luck!

  • I've got the ikea sofa! It's great. Before Christmas I went for a wonder around the store and I sat on it and fell in love with it, it was so comfy and perfectly squichy and you can stretch out on it, I gave it a full and thorough test drive. Since I didn't actually have a living room at the time (I'm in the middle of building a house) I made a mental note of it and was going to look out for it in the sales nearer the time when I had a living room. In January my parents were looking for a new kitchen so my Mum and I took a wonder round Ikea again so that she could pick out a kitchen and I showed her the sofa and she liked it too. Anyway as we were leaving the shop we went past the second's aisle and there it was, I decided if it was less than £600 I would take it, depending on the damage obviously. It was £599 and the only damage was a wee tear in the fabric on the back at the very bottom of the sofa, and I got the footstool that goes with it for half price too! Bargain!! Still don't really have a living room to put it in yet though so it is sitting at the end of the bed in my parents spare room!
  • Cheers,

I don't think I'll be lucky enough to find it in the bargain bit! But you never know! I think I'm going for the Ikea one in Cream and ban the kids! Thanks again all.
  • Cream leathers really not that bad, we have the grubbiest 8yr old boy and the marks he makes just wipe off!

If you want it to last many many years spend the money now and get the Natuzzi. We have one, at least 8 years old and bearing up well. We'll be bored of it before it wears out.

The money in a sofa is what you can't see. Go and see both and hold a corner near the floor and lift - the Natuzzi will be extremely solid, the Ikea one won't.

I was looking at some reviews of Natuzzi on the web (I have an old Natuzzi chaise) and it seems that recently the manufacturing has moved to China from Italy and that quality has suffered as a result. Anyone know if this is true?

We got a Nattuzi leather suite from Cresta about 4 years ago, (from Italy), would not touch them again with a bargepole. After about 13 months the cushions where sagging, Cresta said "outside 12 month warranty", I said "SoGA", they eventually, after much persuasion sent their own in house upholsterer, who agreed they where substandard, they replaced some cushions, took weeks for them to arrive, 6 months later same problem, Cresta wanted nothing to do with it. Took out SCC summons, first visit to SCC to set details, got independant expert witness report , sent to SCC and Cresta, final hearing, Cresta did not turn up, judge said, "if I had seen this report, I would not have turned up either", awarded full refund, court costs and full costs,(£350.)) for expert witness report, that had condemned the manufacturing of this suite.

Will never touch Natuzzi or Cresta ever again.
