Natwest charges with default.

Hi everyone, not sure where to start so please help!
To cut a long story short, 3-4 years ago I was hitting bank charges left right and centre.. eventually I cleared it off, but the following month I was charged again because I didn't pay the final charge off "In time", so I outright refused to pay, and of course the bank charges escalated until my account was defaulted, the bank charges totalled £245.95 + interest and the " Debt " was passed onto Westcott Credit Services (the most vile people on earth IMHO)
My account was a Natwest current account WITHOUT an overdraft facility or cheque book (I opened account when i was 17)
The debt was paid off gradually with the debt recovery (sham)-company, and the account was closed once settled IN FULL.
So I have just recently receievd bank statements covering the whole period, totted up the charges for direct debits etc etc and all the charges total nearly £700.
How do I go about reclaiming this money, but more importantly how do I also get the default removed at the same time.
NB the default is purely from the bank charges, I have never borrowed money and then refused to pay, I merely refused to pay an additional charge for which there was no 'fair' reason.
Thanks for any help, I'm at a loss!!
Regards,
Thomas
