New Eon deal

Hi Malc,
With E-on keeping this information “Top-Secret” makes people like me cynical and suspicious. If you are not prepared to display our tariffs how do we know we are getting the right deal? I’m being offered R2 and E-on states this will be 5.8% above your standard prices, also you are reducing the dual fuel discount by 1%, so effectively a 6.8% increase. Not to mention the 20.42% rise in Electric and 30% rise for gas. Where exactly do you display your Current Standard Prices? I certainly can’t see such an option on the log-in site?
Judging from what others have said on this forum there are 3 options being offered to existing Cappers? How do I know if people being offered R1 or R3 are being offered better deals than I am? Why not come clean and publish the rates on your current log-in site.
Personally I like being able to send in my own meter readings, when the gas/electric reader person comes to call, you can always tell him you are to busy and ask him to politely go away.
My main reason for switching to E-on (Powergen) from British Gas was that British Gas never read my meter and I was always issued with a Guestimate Bill. Thanx0 -
Hi Gill
Spot on. Fixonline 3 fixes prices so they will not move up or down during the term of the contract no matter what the market does.
The R2 tariff, though, is a capped product. Therefore, although prices will not go above the agreed price during the term of the contract, they will come down if prices fall below our standard prices when the tariff was taken out.
Also happy to confirm, Tesco Clubcard points are awarded on both products.
Hope this helps. Give me a shout if you need any more info. Always happy to help.

Malc,
I am also on the fixed deal, ending 1st Oct.
Can you tell me, if I organise a switch today (to EDF) will I have to pay the £35 cancellation? Or do I need to wait until after the 1st?
Hope that makes sense!0 -

If your on one of the deals ending 1st oct you don't have to pay the cancellation fee if you switch supplier but you loose any discount on your final bill.
If you do decide to switch to EDF remember to go though a cash back site as they are paying more than the comparison site. I switched yesterday to EDF through the QUICDO site who are paying £60 for the switch.
Switching takes approx 6-8weeks,during this time you will be put on the new capped deal with eon when your current fixed deal ends on 1st oct unless you contact eon i also did this yesterday and switched to the save on line tariff as it will give me cheaper bill with eon until switch completes, you could also save money by changing your eon tariff whilst waiting on your switch just make sure you don't switch to the fix on line or you will then have to pay the cancellation fee. Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks for this. The Energy Saver deal I am on says £35 charge if I leave before 1st Oct?0

I was on price protection v15 which ends 1st oct and was told i didn't have to pay cancellation fee but would loose discount on my last bill.not sure about what deal your on i'm sure an eon rep will be along soon to give you some advise you may have to wait til the 1st 0ct.Thanks for this. Well, I was thinking with the switch time of about 4 - 8 weeks and with my next bill due start of Oct, now would be ideal. So long as the £35 charge isnt applied until the actual switchover, rather than the date I request the move.0

You could always phone eon and ask when its applied.Even if you do have to pay the charge it may be worth it.What tariff are you switing to is it the online 5. how much will you save.Well, I was thinking with the switch time of about 4 - 8 weeks and with my next bill due start of Oct, now would be ideal. Hi superdon and Brian64,
superdon, I've responded here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1939101
Brian64 the final bill discount issue is right, as part of the terms and conditions when you signed up stated that there is no discounts on final bills.
If you contact E.ON and get them to bill you just before you change supplier, you won't lose so much discount, as the final bill when you leave will then only cover 4-8 weeks worth of energy rather than a full quarters.

Yes, the online v5. Should save over £100 on the current prices (energy saver 3), and even more on Eon's suggest R1 deal.
Am hoping that a rep of Eon will come and confirm when the termination date is taken from - hopefully the actual date of the switch, which would seem fair.0 -
