Newbie, newbie, newbie.

Very new to MSE, been lurking for a few weeks.
My friends all think I'm terribly sad for frequenting it so often, but it really helps me keep on track and not spend anything.

This week I've had 3 NSD's :j
I'm going to aim to make it 4.
Friday I need to spend because I've got a (pre-paid for, can't cancel) holiday which I'm going on in 4 weeks, in a way the holiday is good because I paid for it ages ago, and its two weeks all inclusive and I get paid whilst I'm over there.
So I can simply go on the holiday, not spend very much at all and come back to a full months wages with only 2 weeks until my next pay day

Friday I'm getting £105 from a friend who has bought a phone off me, £55 into my A&L account to help pay off that overdraft and £50 to get holiday essentials. (Sun cream, beach clothes etc... Primark and Wilkos are going to become my best friend).

Wrote out my xmas list for what I'm buying people, hopefully will be able to pick up a lot of xmas presents whilst on holiday as they have a lot of extremely cheap markets etc.

I've listed my debts in my signature, but for some reason it wont show up =/.
They're only baby debts really compared to many other people on here, but I wanted to get them on track before they spiral out of control.
They're big debts for someone of my age I think...

Also set up a 'incentive saver' with lloyds, and am doing the virtual sealed pot challenge, so far £6.76 in that account, I wont break into it until mid-december when doing last bits of xmas shopping.

7 days until pay day and I can pay another couple of small chunks off of my debt :)
24 hours until I receive £105 off my friend who purchased my old phone.
£55 straight into A&L account, its my main priority to pay that off first, and then hopefully get that account into credit as that is the one charging me most interest. (Except the loan obviously, but thats coming out nicely every month).

I'm extremely fortunate in that I don't think any of this has affected my credit rating badly, as I've (give or take a day or two) managed to keep up to speed with my re-payments.

So ironically I'll be coming out of this with the ability to apply for more credit!
    But I won't be doing that! :A

Only spending to be done on Saturday is with the remaining £50 my friend is giving me.
£10 on diesel to tide me over until payday, £40 on holiday essentials, such as sun cream, beach clothes etc.

Worked out a realistic budget with my paycheck which should leave me with enough to squirrel a small amount into my 'incentive saver' account.

    Baby steps, baby steps.

  • Wow!!
Just signed up to Quidco, and realised just how fantastic it is!
I thought I was being spend-savvy when looking for a very low budget holiday to Spain next year (was going to include flights & hotel for me and a friend for about £160 each) on this really cheap website, then signed up to Quidco and realised I can get cash back too!
(Don't worry, not looking to book it any time soon, when I'm almost out of debt)

Anyways sorry if this sounds like an advert but just thought I'd share how amazing I thought it was.

Been doing my surveys, looking for a free scratch card website if anyone knows of any?

Sorry probably sound sad but every little helps!

    Hey ZarZar!

Welcome to the site, I am fairly new myself but am finding it so good for keeping me on the straight & narrow!!

Well done on your 'Next' overpayment :T Its not sad at all! It all adds up after all!! Pennies make pounds and all that jazz!!

As for free scratch card websites, I use Butlins Bingo and find them very good. There are loads of others though. I also use Take a Break Bingo but now they put your scratchcard 'winnings' into a bonus pot instead so you have to use the money to play games of bingo instead of cashing it out. Is still worth doing though, never know you might get lucky!! :D

I think there are rules that you can only have one account from bingo sites that belong to the same company, but am sure somebody will be along with more info on that for you!

Good luck with your debt-busting!! Where are you going on holiday?

    ChocChip xxx

p.s I like Quidco too! I only joined a few months back and as I've been trying to cut down on my spending consequently havent been buying much through it! Have still managed to get about £15 back through using it but have heard stories of people who have made hundreds just through using it for insurances etc. Handy for using for online shopping over Christmas too I imagine!! :)
    DF Reward Pot £16/£110 :D
  • ChocChip:
I'm off on holiday on the 12th of October, 4 weeks and 4 days away!
To Turkey, I got a fairly good deal £550 all inc. for 2 weeks, this of course was before I become a MSE!
For next year I'll be looking at a shorter, much cheaper holiday!

Payday is a week away, so my proper MSE abilities will be tested when I've got more than a tenner in my bank account haha.

Yeah well, I've still got to purchase bikinis and holiday clothes, and Next and littlewoods online are both through quidco, also car insurance is due in December.
It will also help a lot for Christmas shopping, if I start Christmas shopping end of October, some of the money I make back through Quidco could still be used to Christmas shopping haha!

This week is going to be a 5 or 6 NSD'er... I have to spend Saturday.
Sunday and Friday should be spend free though!

Thanks for taking a peek anyways, hope I talk to you soon :)

  • I'm receiving some money I'm owed from a friend today (£105) and getting £10 from my mum for babysitting my little sister :).
I plan to put £55 in A&L account tomorrow.
Max. of £10 spend on food.
Then £10 on Diesel tomorrow, and £40 on holiday essentials.
I've chosen my bikinis from NEXT which I can get cash back from on Quidco!
Already own a denim skirt, 2 pairs of 3/4s, loads of summery tops so just need to raid primark for perhaps one more pair of bottoms and a couple of tops.
Already own nighttime wear for going out for meals etc.
Any money I don't spend out of the £40 will be going into my bank account.

    6 days until payday...
4 weeks and 3 days until holiday!

    xx
