Yeah I think they have changed it to accept valid cards only, I just tried some random numbers and that didn't work either.

I believe you can purchase them for a few quid in the various walkabout bars up and down the country. You MUST register the card online in order for it to be accepted in this competitions and other various offers/giveaways
