Bt Contracts

I recently was contacted by a debt company on behalf of BT. Nerly 4 years ago I moved areas for a short while, I took a BT line on my new property but when things didn't work out there I moved back to my previous address. I didn't need to take my BT line with me so just cancelled it. This company who have contacted me after 3 and a half years!! Claim that I owe BT 150 pounds as I did not see out my 12 month contract! I wasn't even aware I was within a contract. Is there anything I can do? I cannot beleive it has taken them 3 and a half years to find me as I have lived at this address ever since, get credit from here and am on the electoral role. The thought of being in Debt upsets me but I really don't see why I should pay it if I never knew I was even in a contract!
