I can't belive I havent found this thread before  I haven't read it all but hope u don't mind jumping in!

I have a DS who was 2 on aug 22. He is currently having a nap! :D

He is generally a good fellow - he doesn't speak yet much only few odd words and even then only when he feels like it. All health people keep saying why doesnt he talk blah blah blah, they checked his hearing and said its fine so he must just be a lazy boy. That was about 6 months ago. Now they keep mentioning it but not actually doing anything?

I'm not overally worried as a)all children are different b)im trying to encourage him but I don't want to push him too much! They make you feel like poo about it though don't they???? ;)

Anyone have any experience of this?????

Hi Babyhead - I was convinced my LO was hugely advanced recently when he started to talk and get loads of words this summer (so from about 20 mths) because my oldest who is perfectly normal talking wise (and talks ten to the dozen if you have the patience to listen) didn't really start talking until about 2 and a half.

He didn't start talking in sentances either but just caught up relatively quickly when he did start talking. By the time he was in school he was probaly one of the better talkers as he was a lonely only and spent loads of time with grown ups.
Dont mean to sound rude, but are your kids mixed?
I'm mixed, my kids are whiter than the driven snow!
I was pretty pale as a child and still am in comparison to my cousins, and I used to be ginge!

Evening all - any tips on how to deal with a total meltdown from a seriously overtired baby who won;t got to sleep? She is crying so much and so hard and we can;t clam her down at all. None of our usual methods are working and she's been doing this on and off since 2pm. She has catnapped a bit but needs a proper sleep.

Archie had a few meltdowns on our hols this year and we found the only thing that worked when all else failed was to strap him in the car seat and go for a drive. That way he couldn't hurt himself flailing about (he likes to be noticed when in full flow) and being immobilised made him relaxed enough to allow him to fall asleep.

Had a wierd day today ....having finally accepted that OH will not change his mind about wanting a liitle sibling for Archie I have spent the last two days sorting stuff out for the nct sale this weekend and pricing them up; etc. Anyway as there is nearly two years worth of clothes I've only put the best stuff in to sell and packed away the boring stuff like vests etc in a bag to take to the charity shop. Anyway I noticed the other day a (foreign) neighbour had had a baby (annoyingly slim women - I didn't even know she was pregger ) so I decided to offer it to them - being foreign I imagined they wouldn't know loads of peeps with older children to pass clothes on to them like I do. Anyway the bloke answers the door and says "no thanks"! So feeling a bit miffed I go to the local charity shop which is just closing and ask if they want it. They say "can you bring it back tomorrow" (honestly how long does it take to chuck two bags in the shop?) so I go to the tip and put it in the clothing bank (for Africa). When I come back however the neighbour is sent back by his wife and said he has made the wrong choice can he have the clothes.....

So I explain that I have already got rid of them...but now I feel mean cause it was only because I got upset earlier that I drove off down the tip to get it over and done with. So I have said I will give them the stuff left over from the sale -and tbh they are welcome to it as I can't be doing with spending yet more time trying to recoup my losses ...will have to learn not to overbuy in future :o.

Must admit I did feel quite emotional getting rid of all his old stuff - getting soft in my old age I think.

<<hugs>> to elle - hope all goes well with rhys' hospital visits. xx

Sami, I'm Ayr, West coast, 45mins south of glasgee.

We went to a wedding, at a hotel attached to Ayr racecourse last year - it was a lovely place! And OH took us to a beach the following morning to clear our heads before the drive home as I felt a bit ill (pregnant but didn't know it!!). Anyhows......the beach was absolutely gorgeous, and as we were walking along, I thought it was a perfect romantic location/timing for a proposal. But no - OH really lacks in the romance department!

On that note, i'm off to bed! Night all - hope everyone gets nice long sleeps.
