    Without getting on the moral high ground,could I have answers to my question please.

    eh? :confused:
    there is a wealth of information and links above ... and you're not the OP? - if you have a question that's different to the one above, just go to the section on the forum that best suits and create a new post. However, just use the search facility up the top right hand corner first as there's a very good chance you might find what you're after there first.

    No, forever. Once a creditor has been to court and obtained judgement against a debtor, then the debt will no longer automatically become statute-barred after six years.

    No, DPA stipulates the rules for sharing of data not a court judgement (I can obtain a judgement easily enough - trust me, they can be set-aside for the slightest thing!). At the end of the day any public data is held on the CRA database for a maximum period of 6yrs.

    Statute Barred conforms to Limitations Act, again this would supersede any judgement so it 'could' become statute barred dependant upon the type of judgement.

    It is the rules that govern the CRA's i'm referring to and the data will be gone after 6yrs. You can ring and ask them if you want? Maybe you're speaking about the actual judgement which, assume you got a CCJ and it took 8 years to clear, the CCJ entry would be removed from any public records and the CRA's after the usual 6yrs but the CCJ could still be valid, even though there would be no record of it.

    Here is a brief explanation for you:
    All county court judgements are listed on the Register of Judgements, Orders and Fines. If no further action is taken, the judgement will remain on the Register for six years from the date on which the judgement was granted.

    The Register of County Court Judgements

    The Register of County Court Judgements has been officially known as the Register of Judgements, Orders and Fines since 2006. The Register relating to England and Wales is divided into three sections:County court judgements; High Court judgements since April 2006; and, fines. An entry in the county court judgement section will show:
    • The date and original amount of the judgement;
    • Which county court granted the judgement; and,
    • The debtor’s name and address.
    The Register may contain additional information such as the case number and whether the debt has since been paid. The information contained in the Register is public and anyone can apply to search it. However, a fee is payable for each name and for each section searched. A search of one section for one name costs £8. An additional fee will have to be paid if a person has more than one name – for example a maiden name and a married name.
    In addition:
    How Long Does a Judgement Stay on the Register?

    Most county court judgements are entered on the Register about 28 days after they have been granted. Once a county court judgement has been entered it will remain on the Register for six years from the date of the judgement.
