Oh, wow I love it! The photos are fab.

Have you ruled out eBay with a reserve price?

Thanks. Nope - that's the way I'm probably going to go. Together with autotrader and possibly fish4cars/local paper. I'm waiting for the log book to arrive, plus I might ring the local Ford garage to see how much they would offer me, then I'm going to put it on (if Ford don't do me a decent offer) e-bay for a 10 day auction. I think the autotrader ads run for 2 weeks, so I'll let that run for a few days before starting the e-bay one off - so that the autotrader advert finishes a day or so before the e-bay one. If I've read the rules correctly, if you want to withdraw a car from auction on e-bay, you have to have at least one day remaining.

Well, I've rung Ford this morning - they've given me a half decent offer. Apparently they're selling new streetka's for less than £11k so he reckoned he couldn't offer me any more than £9250 - any opinions out there?

I'm willing to take a little less than I would get selling it privately, just to avoid the aggravation - plus it would save me having to sort out insurance as well. And it would more than cover the credit card debts :D

I've left the bloke hanging at the moment, while I think about it.

thats a tough one stumpy i would call a couple more dealers in the area and see what they say. Then get an average over 3 or 4. There are normally at least a couple of ford dealers in a town.

Only you can say what you are prepared to accept for the car. You could always just try ebay and then take it to the dealers if you dont get what your reserve was. On the dealers advice I would go for about 11k reserve on ebay.
  • I think you'll have to go on your gut instinct to be honest... If you're happy to take £9250 to avoid any hassle from selling it.. then go for it... if in the back of your mind, you think you're getting a bad deal.. then wait a little bit longer - you only had it delivered yesterday after all :)

My opinion is that if he gets your Ka for £9250, he could make a large profit on that in a very short amount of time. You've got a very special little car there and you only need one person to fall in love with it.

I'd go the eBay/Autotrader route tbh... at least to test the water.

By the way, congrats! I've been following the thread with interest... I reckon eBay could really bring in some interested parties for you!

I've just had a reply from the Ford Heritage Museum - they must have just had a backlog before - apparently they actually had the car (together with the other two) for a while, but they don't have the space to keep it on a permanent basis. He was very nice though.

I'm waiting for a couple more people to get back to me and then I might give the garage another ring tomorrow - ringing a couple of dealers sounds like a good idea - I might try that too. Then I'll find out how long their offer stands - if I can get them waiting for a couple of weeks, then I can definately try the e-bay idea as well.
  • Hey Stumpy...I've been reading this thread and it really is marvellous when someone wins something, anything, but to win something that can clear debts and make a difference is really heart warming :)

Have you checked out carsource.co.uk ? On there a Glass' car value (Glass is the motor trade pricing people) for a streetka is approx £13 K depending on the sort. Because yours is a very limited edition and has been signed I personally think the Ford dealership was having a laugh offering you over £9K. Me thinks he was rubbing his hands when he gave that offer! (Cynic I know!!) Anyway, do whatever you think is best. Have you tried advertising in the specialist Ford Car magazine (bought at any WHSmiths.) Maybe they could run an article on it (though I see from an earlier thread would people be not so generous as it was a comp prize etc.)

Anyway, Stumpy I really am genuinely chuffed for you and here's to debt free days...that is always definitely worth celebrating.:)

Thanks quickstepqueen. I think the problem with pricing it at the moment is that it isn't a current model - it's the 2004 model. At which time there were only two streekas, the basic and the luxury. Unfortunately, due to that, I'm having to hunt down the specification off the internet as the garage no longer have brochures for it. The current Streetkas are going for around the £13k mark - but this one, not taking into account the thunderbirds link, is only worth around £10k.

Saying that, add on the colour, the link to the film and the signature I think that should add some value. I'm in the process of "testing the water" with e-bay over the weekend - if I get more than the garage offered me, I'll be chuffed, if not, I've just spend a tiny amount of the value having a go. :D

Okay - I've stuck it up there. If anyone feels the urge to make me a nice offer (and maybe pay off the loan at the same time!) feel free! :D
