Not accepting Paypal as option

I know Paypal guarantee's you get your money pretty quickly but on items sold under £10/£20 does it really affect your sale if you do not accept Paypal?
Alternatively to cover these costs they could be included in the starting selling price. I've only sold a few items, nothing very expensive but I just feel paying PayPal charges leave you less
. Just wondered what advice you would give please? Thanks.

For me it's simple, if I don't take paypal I get less for more items or don't sell them at all. I facto rin all my costs including ebay and paypal fees before I set my opening price.
No one can force you to take paypal, but if you take cheques ar eyou happy that you can bank every day or so and keep up to speed on where cheques are in the system? It's probably fine if you are a small seller but becomes more problematic if you start to sell a lot, I couldn't manage to deal with 30-50 cheques a week personally, so paypal does work out easier for me.

I appreciate where you're coming from on this as most of my items are lower prices too, but I have to agree with Soo that pay pal really does help items sell and get a better price. Even if your winning bidder doesn't pay by pay pal, the price may have been bumped up by someone who would only pay that way. Most of my auctions have been payed by pay pal, and I find the little touches like their packing slips help to make life easier!
I do wish they didn't charge so many fees though ;-)

Thanks very much both of you for your views. I'm putting a couple of items on soon so shall let the paypal sign stay. It is easier but I did have a little bit of hassle from paypal when they took too much money from my account. Ho wever they did apologise and repaid it so perhaps I should give them a second chance.....................;)
EDIT:
I would give you a thank you but button appears to have disappeared again.0 -
I much prefer paypal, if i get a cheque then ive got to drive to the bank (prob spending as much as the paypal fee on petrol etc..) and wait at least 5 days til it clears, paypal for me is worth the fees but only as i sell so much, cheques are way too time consuming and ive never sold anything BIN and been paid by cheque, Postal Orders on the other hand i love, hand em over as go to post item...no problems but these are a cost to the buyer so less popular.. Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame.:j0
