Anti-virus Free stuff.

I run the following weekly.........Avira, Spybot,Malewarebytes,Superantispyware............i now always run Spybot last, yet i still find it finds more threats, usually that the other 3 put together. So is there any point in running the other 3? (This is not spam)

Many of these scanners report tracking cookies which are harmless and stored when banner adverts are displayed on pages you view.

The Privacy tab on FireFox settings allows you to block third party cookies (which many of these are). Probably the same option exists in other browsers.

You can also simply block all adverts but bear in mind that many websites are funded entirely by advertising. If everybody blocked all the adverts you'd have a much smaller free to access web and many sites would have to change to a subscription model or simply close down.

run CCleaner (free from filehippo.com) before you start your scans....spybot probably won't find anything ever again :) As for finding "real" nasties, MBAM and SAS are FAR FAR superior, but they can ignore harmless cookies that spybot flags up..
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

CCleaner isnt an anti virus of any description. It simply removes garbage thats not need (Temporary files etc). It doesnt scan the hardrives like anti virus programs do. It simply goes to certain places on the hardrive and removes the garbage from them

No, Gunjack in #3 never said CCleaner was an antivirus programme only that it helps to clear out cookies and other detrius that may be falsely flagged up as being harmfull by some programees particularly Spybot.

That's why he suggests MBAM and SAS as being a better choice that Spybot.
