The Tax Credit overpayments Housing Benefit had

Am new to this posting thing sorry but having read the newsletters and browsed the forums regularly have never seen this issue raised.
When I was overpaid tax credits (some years ago now) I was at the time on housing benefit. Since Housing benefit took these tax credits into account when calculating my benefit I only actually received 15% of the overpayment and yet Tax credits demanded the full whack. At the time I shallowed the cost and repaid about £700, a huge sum for a single mother working part time, but this shouldn't have been the case. Oh and for the record I'd been overpaid because the 'help' I received to get back to work at the job centre filled in my tax credit claim very badly. I'm obviously not looking to get my money back but wonder at the implications of overpayments reacting with other means tested benefits whilst discussions of childcare interactions are so topical.

If your HB was incorrect, it would mean that you were underpaid it? If TC recover, isn't it worth trying to sort out the HB too?0
