Buying kids clothing

If you have any nectar points then a 500 point voucher is worth £5 in Adams whereas it's only worth £2.50 in Sainsburys.0

Hi ,
Go into some charity shops .I picked up some Next summer dresses for £2.50 and they looked brand new .
Also get school uniform from there as well.0 -
The only "designer" item I buy for my DD10 are adidas trainers, as these last her ages. I buy clothing from Primark, George, Tesco and Matalan. Also Carboots and Jumble Sales. I dont see the point of paying out for something that will only last a few months.0

I usually get my kids clothes from Tesco and sometimes Asda. However i generally find tesco's clothes to have the edge. Today i popped in to buy DS & DD a smart outfit to wear when they have their pre-school photo done next week. I got 2 smart shirts (2x£3), 2 smart shorts (2x£4), and a combined trousers & top outfit for DD (£10). Then bought a £2 T-shirt for DS to make it up to over £25 as they are offering £5 off £25 spend. A lady handed out leaflets as you enter the store. Of course at tescos you can also use coupons off your shop (even if it includes clothes). Results £10 for the lot. Very good deal in my opinion......Just need to hope they smile nicely in the photos now....:rolleyes:0

I've found some brilliant kid's stuff at charity shops, including Laura Ashley,M&S, and Children's Warehouse(a mail order company).I also like Tesco's children's clothes and I wouldn't go anywhere else for underwear and socks for my 3.0

I think Peacocks and BeWise are excellent for basic wardrobe items (and are very cheap!), especially t-shirts and underwear and I would definitely look on Ebay too as you can get designer stuff and clothes from Next, Gap etc. that is hardly worn at a fraction of the original price. Just check the sellers feedback and read the item description carefully to see if they describe it as "as new" or "from smoke free home" etc. If there are any rips or marks they should mention this or you can report them to Ebay and get your money back.
I love clothes from Next myself and have bought a lot of tops, t-shirts and trousers off Ebay and they have all been brand-new looking and some with the label still on and have cost me on average £4-£5 per item!0 -
I too like Next as I think their quality is really good (and the only place that seem to do trousers to fit my step-son - he has long legs and skinny as a rake).
As mentioned supermarkets are cheap as well. I have bought a load of stuff from Asda and again the quality was excellent.
Catologues are also good e.g. additions direct, kays, etc. You can usually get packs of kids clothes very cheap. I usually get summer stuff from there like packs of vest tops and t-shirts that work out about £1 per top. Always wait until I have a discount code tho'
Oh just remembered LX Direct and Empire stores are very good for cheap "designer" footwear in their sales. I have got stepson timberlands, kickers, adidas trainers, etc and never paid more than £20. Again all good quality and last for ages.0 -
I have had some brilliant buys from ebay for my two, especially if you buy at the right time. Dont wait until the start of the Summer term for summer school dresses for example as there will be more bidders and items will cost more. (I left it a bit late for my oldest daughter, and saw 2 M+S school dresses I liked but the bidding rose until they were almost full price, so I dropped out cos it ended up cheaper to get them new from Woolworths)
For the last two years I have got Adams coats for DD's from ebay, have not paid more than £4.50 for any of them, (including p+p) in excellent A1 condition, by buying them at the start of the school Summer holidays. Then DD2 will get DD1's handed down when she has grown big enough.
Inspired by some threads on here I started to have a look round charity shops which I had not done before, and this week I bought two BHS school skirts and one M+S school skirt for September from Barnardos, (half price) 60p each! In tip top condition and DD's like them.
I like Peacocks and QS things and Primark for underwear and socks, although not keen on their older girls clothing. I do still buy in Next and M+S though if its a special occasion, or something that will get a lot of wear, and I dont worry about doing it cos these are the items I resell on ebay, the cheaper items that may not ebay as easily I pass on to friends for their children, and I have a friend who passes on her daughters stuff to me. I also like TU at Sainsburys, tesco and Asda too. Not keen on Adams as I think their stuff is overpriced, if I was going to spend that much I would go to Next instead.0 -
Our local age concern charity shop does all kids clothes at 25p. Last week a next ski jacket, a regatta coat, 2 asda dresses, a next tshirt £1.25. One of the trendy mum's at toddlers today had her little girl in the same tshirt & a friend paid £60 for the same gap jacket!0

Can't beat the car boots and jumbles sales - our local charity shop does all the kids stuff at 20p - posh area and so good quality stuff. The only stuff we buy new is undies, nighties and socks, and even then only in the sale.0
