Try one of the American companies for your next 'cruise'. They charge $10 for each passenger on their 'courtesy' buses.
Yip! (learned that one too) & most times you can just walk off and hop onto the port bus (usually free) or one of the double decker buses that go round the towns. Should say I have a wheelchair too - I got on the tram in Amsterdam & we had a 'round trip' for about 2 euros each - brill we saw most of Amsterdam.0 -
You can get about and do allsorts when you set your mind to it and just find a way. Its no good demanding that everyone else sorts out our problems. We just get on and do it.
No bus? Get a Taxi. As Kriss said, thats what the DLA is for.0 -

Amsterdam, its the most wonderful city, its vibrant, its laid back,
its olde worlde and the Dutch people are the best, only second behind the Geordies of course.;) I stood on a bridge in Amsterdam at an intersection of the big canal and a small boat 'sauntered' passed. as it went by there was a beatncky type, stearing, reading a book, passenger laid out on the back of the little boat, all relaxed, only half dressed and the big hand written sign siad 'Work - F..k it - Relax.
Now that's Amsterdam in a phrase.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Krisskross, you are right. They do charge for the buses. But there again some of the British ones do too.
I really don't understand the gripe the OP has, do you? If you look back he hadn't even paid for it when he was demanding his rights.
Its this sort of thing that gets ALL wheelchair users a bad name.
As for me giving wheelchair users a bad name P&O reply states it all, they do not advertise or freely give this service yes I was told about it, was quoted a price and agreed and paid that price only to be told the service was unavailable. so please do not come that with me. I had said I would not have cared what Price they quoted for the travel (well within reason lol) as it was just a break from post and phone and time to clear our minds. If you book a break as I did and you phone up and pay and the person takes your card details then reads out what is included and you just double check the travel is the agreed disability transport but are told something like " sorry but you can not have been told this as we do not offer that on this route" would you not take umbridge at all but being called a liar? that was my starting point for standing up for what was said. and as you can see they found the tape and agree with me.
I have to say Brugge is beautiful, not just the food and chocolate either lol the buildings have so much to entertain the eye. the squares all have something to offer, ald although we found places like the chocolate museum not wheelchair friendly (I sat outside whilst my wife and son went in and had a nice look around and saw how they make chocolate) We found it wo be a place we would go to again and again (eurostar next time).
I am like most people happy to not draw attention to myself unless am called a liar or something then I will defend myself. the past week I have been stuck in bed, the past 18 months since my problem started have been worst in whole life, as I hate being inactive, always worked or as was doing before this running own business. Some days I still think I can do everything I could before and in doing so make myself worse. adjusting is hard but I rely on only three people, my wife my son and myself. I do not now or ever will expect or demand anything from others unless it is as happened here where I was being made out to be untruthfull. I believe in treating others as you wish them to treat you. that was why I offered a prize I won via the comp section on here to other MSE users and the person who did accept the prize has sent me a thank you e-card and said how wonderful it was, also the books we got as duplicates on galaxy comp we gave to hospital and the mars balls we gave to my sons school and the local scouts group. so please do not judge because as the bible says "judge not that you yourself be judged(Matthew 7:1)"Only through Christ can we find freedom0
