Hi
Thought I should try one of the free online virus scanners to check my home computer but I cannot seem to download and scan properly. I am getting the following message:
"Failed to load online scanner active X control. You must have administrive right on this computer and IE security settings at medium level."
My IE settings are set at medium and anything I can see with active X is enabled. I should have administrive control as it is our home computer.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

Your firewall or other security software my be stopping the execution of active X. If this is the case you should be able to allow it for that specific anti-virus scan site. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

thanks for your reply.
I have tried it again with the firewall switched off and it still wouldnt work. I also use Ad-Adware and bt anitspy but cant see where sites might be disallowed.0 -
If you are using XP there is usually a small pop down at the top of your browser window asking you to click for options, one of which is to allow active x on the page. Sometimes it can also be due to not having the latest Java installed.Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

The problem with online scanners are that they dont offer any real time protection. Have you tried Microsofts new Windows Live Safety scanner? http://safety.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm It also tunes up your pc0
