I love this programme, although i agree that it doesn't add anything that you can't find here. The acknowledgement that spending can usually be related to psychological events is interesting.

I saw it last night. What does my head in about this programme is that there is barely any mention of clearing the debt. Last nights finally did mention it, saw him paying his mum back.

Ive only seen a couple, but I jsut dont think the contestants know what a lightbulb moment is. On one of martions MMR's ther ewas this bloke who was spending an INCREDIBLE amount of debt on meals out flash cars with his kids who he never saw in Romania, anyone see that one? A flight to romania is only about 70 quid, he could have afforded it my sacrificing one meal out. And he never paid maintenence. Even by the time martin had finished with him I barely saw a flicker...

I agree Lynz they don't tend to mention how to pay back stuff, or about getting rid of some of the stuff accumlated to make up this debt - although last nite that guy did sell his boat (which btw he didn't fix up very good, a lick of paint and he wanted to sell for up to £3k - LOL)

I didn't see that one about the guy with kids in Romania, but he sounds like an !!!!!!!

Did n't catch any of those mentioned, but saw one the other day about an aspiring DJ, had had £40k off his parents, and no sign of 'making it' in the business!

They all seem to be completely selfish types and totally oblivious to how they impact those around them! Which is probably why they don't tend to have lightbulb moments  Another I saw recently, kept buying sports cars and smashing them up, borrowing off mates to get another and then totalling that one etc! Meanwhile the mates are desperately needing their money back!! icon9.gif

I dont know whos worse though, the spendaholic or the parent. Last nights a case in point- is you have got to the 2k stage with no money coming back, why let it creep up to 19.5k, the gf in the romania one was classic, she just stood there grimacing as martin was telling him to put his kids before his car, and she shuffled alongside the motor body language saying "over my dead body"

Yeah totally agree, the one I saw with the DJ, the father admitted being soft, and knew he was doing it! But then decided that he wanted to retire and so needed the money back  However the son knew if he didn't get it from the father, the mother would give it to him instead! icon9.gif

I like Spendaholics but i like all money related programmes really - that Pay off Your Mortgage in 2 years was good - but even on there there was this one guy who had about £40 of debt and had his head in the clouds - god knows if he could clear the debt in 2 years let alone a £100k mortgage - i dont think so do you?? My personal favourite is Bank of Mum and Dad - thats really good!!
Focusing on clearing the credit cards in 2018 :T

I tend not to watch this..........catch the odd old Bank of Mum and Dad.....

Saw one last week i think......some young geordie lass with rediculous debt and no idea how to sort it out............have to say only watched a bit of it (kept coming back to it)...........first half I wanted to punch the silly cow!!!!!!!! stroppy little madam!! Insisting on not selling a flash car that she's banned from driving anyway??????

Even in the end when she was 'thanking her mum for her efforts' got the distinct feeling that she would be right back in there.............I know she said she was sorted at the end....but I do wonder for how long!!
