i guess once the ballpark cost is known (exaggeration of costs being likely!), then you also know if it's worth finding a witness and contesting. (i also think that this may be more expensive than it looks if the whole bumper needs replacing!).

Exactly :) This is what seems to be happening to the OP, obviously we only have their side of the story, & I'd guess the other driver has realised how much the repair will cost & has invented a "witness" to try to change what seems like a 50-50 accident into a "it's your fault missus" situation.

Of course I'd never suggest the OP "finds" his own witness to even out the issue because that would be dishonest, wouldn't it? :)

  • oh no - i wasn't suggesting making up a witness (insurance fraud is very risky, despite being just plain wrong, and could result in being un-insurable for more than just car insurance), but as it was picking up from school time, the chances are that someone noticed something and a bit of a canvass at school would turn up someone who'd seen it. whether or not that person's opinion would help or hinder is another matter!

Ooops sorry, no you didn't suggest anything like that! But it goes on & if the OP is to be believed it has happened here!

I think given the original title "very minor accident", the phrase "making a mountain out of ..........." comes to mind.

However, given the fact that the OP has now stated it did not occur in a one way section, and that both cars wer reversing, 50/50 seems much more likely:confused:. But please don't try fabricating anything:o
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
