in Credit cards
Anyone have any useful advice for me in looking for a credit card for me and my partner - a few things to know first:
I have 2 cashback cards - morgan stanley & amex blue which I pay off every month
my partner has no credit cards and is a bit wary of them - also she has moved addresses thrre times in the last 3 years due to job moves ( she has been in her current flat for nearly a year
We will be moving in together to a new flat down south next month
Ideally want a decent card with a lowish limit that we can use to cover all the shared stuff ( food shopping / internet shopping / petrol etc) to help her get into the habit of using the credit card well and keeping hold of her cash a bit longer
Any suggestions welcome
thanks

There is no such a thing as a CC in joint names. It is always in one name (main cardholder who is responsible for everything) and can have one or few additional cardholders (who just use the cards).
BTW this doesn't affect additional cardholder credit history in any way.
You can make her the second cardholder on one of your cards. Otherwise she can apply for some card and make you an additional cardholder - in this case she will build some credit history for the future. It is recommended to start with the bank she has her current accoun with. Also it is better to apply before moving.0 -
I've had and Egg Money Card, credit limit £1,200.00, for about 1½ months and recently got a another card for my partner.
No problems what so ever, if they asked for his name, address and DOB thats about all. No income figures given or anything like that.
Card arrived within about 5 days.0 -
Credit cards aren't usually issued in joint names.
It is possible to get an additional card holder on an account though.
The main card holder is fully liable for all the debt of any secondary cardholder though.
The second card holder won't go through a full credit check either - just their identity needs to be confirmed.
Suggest you get an egg money card too - that way you can set up a full payment by direct debit option so you g/f can be comfortable that debt is not building up and can check the statement at any time online. As well as see the benefits of earning 1% cashback on spending!
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

For ease of use, I would get her a Blue card, seeig as you already have one.
Just remember your credit limit remains unchanged, ie if it was £3000 for your one card, it will still be £3000 but spread over both cards.
Better than having 2 seperate ones, as the cash back is calculated on your combined purchases.
You'll be able to see what she has spent online, she will be able to only see what she has spent online - as long as she doesn't mind, no problems.
Works for me and my OH, she prints off her online bill at the beginning of every month, and then transfers the money over to me so I can pay it off - nice and simple, and zero fuss :T
We should get cashback of around £80 this year, which is enough for 2 nights in a B&B or a couple of nice meals out
