Thanks Harassed. I can't press the button as it's gone but just to let you know I would have!
I am worried for my friend, who has been very silly, and the above is not her only debt, but there is still no glimmer of a lightbulb. When we last spoke, the catalogue had informed her they were going to press charges for fraud as she ordered most of the goods within a few weeks then missed the next few bills, before writing to say she couldn't afford to pay anything.
After I directed her to this site and she found your letter, she has been convinced everything is now hunky dory and they can't touch her. I don't dispute your advice one bit, but I still worry that they can do something and she will end up in a big pile of the brown stuff.
For the kiddies sake, I hope everything does end up fine and am trying to get her to at least make token payments because of the amount involved. Still, I can't live her life for her, and while she doesn't want to tackle the problem, I fear there is little else I can do.
Regards

Just get her to send the letter (by Recorded Delivery) and wait for developments.
Hope for the best.0 -
Hi Fizzle,
We have a debt with Next too, that has been sold on to Debt Managers. You must have been called by a right battleaxe as the lady i spoke to was very polite, basically i just told her i was on a dmp with the CCCS ,she asked for my ref number and told me to inform the CCCs that they were now dealing with the debt and that was it.I havent heard anything else from them so it looks like they have accepted my payments, which are very low, nothing like the amount they were asking from you.I would definately advice you to call payplan and let them deal with them.Good luck:o0
