Going to Egypt next week on a dancing holiday. I have paid a single supplement. Just got the documents and says 1 X SNG room. Emailed the leader and asked if it was a single room, cos if so why have I paid a single supplement. This is the reply I have just got back "thay don't do single rooms they are std rooms for sole use". Is this not the same thing as if for sole use, how can they charge for single supplement. What do I do as she is flying out tomorrow?

What it means is you have booked a standard room (twin or double) but have booked it for sole use - ie. only you will be using it instead of the normal occupancy of 2 people.
The supplement appies as you are taking a twin or double room by yourself whereas the hotel could have got double the price if they had sold it at a per person rate to a couple rather than to a single person.
Hope this makes sense0 -
Thanks for that, it makes perfect sense. Just panicked, hope I don't get swapped for a camel!:o0

My friend went on a coach tour of Europe a few years back, paid 50% more single supplement and in most places was stuck in a broom cupboard. She showed the other travellers who were appalled at what single people have to put up with even though they've paid MORE.0

I hope it's not like that. Shouldn't be so will wait and see but not a push over.0
