I have just done the above using XP. Things look OK but when I look in device manager it isn`t showing my Nvidia graphics card. Tried a game today and again it`s not picking up the card. Any suggestions please?

Have you installed the Nvidia driver?

Are there any hardware devices in your device manager that are showing as uninstalled? First suggestion would be to go to nVidia's website, download and install the driver.

Wow that was quick. Dufus here, forgot which Nvidia card it is. About £50, 8 months ago. Is there a generic driver. I think AOpen has one.

Get Device Manager to "search the internet" for one automatically. Might save you hunting around for the right one ;)

I have found a driver on CNet that seems to be a " fit " all Nvidia driver. There is nothing relating to this card that I can see in the device manager.

It is more than likely a geforce series card if it is a standalone card (not built into your motherboard).

Also, run windows update. Under the drivers section, it MAY provide a graphics card driver for you to install.

It won't tell you what card it is because it isn't installed. The card won't identify itself properly unless the driver is there. Bit of a vicious circle really.

    Don't just install anything

Go to the Nvidia website and use their 'Auto-Detect' tool to locate the driver that you need.

I have started a coumputer certification course. As you might tell I have really only just started it but all these things helps me to learn. Once again guys, thanks.
