Venetian blind - Can i cut this?

Looking for some advice, i bought a very good wooden blind in B&Q and a bargain at £5 but as i did not pre-measure the window the blind is about 25cms to big.

Now i have trimmed them before taking 5-10cms off each end. But as this one is a little too long i would need to take away one of the supports (string)

Can this be done?

I can get a refund but as these are £90 brand new just thought i might have been able to cut it down.

I've steered clear of ready made venetian blinds because I didn't think it was possible to trim the width and our windows aren't standard sizes.

Surely if you remove one of the strings you wont be able to let it down and pull it up, it would need a string each side. Or am I not understanding you very well  .

thats what i thought, thats why i think you couldnt cut it, you could if it didnt affect the strings...

If I'm getting it right, you want to remove some of the slats at the bottom and reduce the length?
I had to do that with a cheapo one I got from B&M and its fine, just a case of retying the knots and since you've already started trimming it and cant take it back what have you got to loose?

Oh, I took it that the OP wanted to reduce the width  . Funny how we all read things differently.

Come back Bailey, tell us who's right :rotfl: .

You know, re reading it I reckon your right :)
I think we're actually talking about one of the vertical strands that will be lost if it was cut.

TomsMom is right i wanted to reduced the width of it,

Having a look at it the string it just woven in and out of the last one so might go for it. The blind will be down all the time anyway and always open so for £5 i think it might be worth the risk to cut it.

    Thanks everyone for the advice
