I would buy on the island although there has been the odd occasion where I've founds things slightly cheaper at the airport

You will not be able to buy duty free in either Manchester or Majorca as Spain is in the EU and duty free has been abolished within the EU

Prices for cigarettes and spirits are cheaper in Spain than here, so better to wait til you get there. Shop around for tobacco products, the official tobacco shops "tabacas" indicated by a brown and yellow sign are usually the cheapest, prices are set by the Government but you can buy from supermarkets, these are usually dearer but have may have a "freebie" with them, a t shirt or small bottle of spirit taped to them, you will have to work out if the "free gift" is worth the extra.

Below is a link to a tabac in Benidorm, click on prices at the top, as I said the prices should be the same in Majorca.
