Hey :j
i was wondering if someone could tell me roughly what a yearly electric consumption would be? we are a family of 4, 2 bed brand new build flat.
We have used 650 units since 25 may does anybody know how much roughly this would cost? say on british gas? i cant work out whether u pay a daily standing charge etc
(bit of background we moved into a new build in may, most of the site is still uncomplete so we are still not recieving utitly bills just letters from the companys saying they are aware of the problems etc so just looking for a idea of how much moneys worth ive used so far

The average yearly gas and electricity bill is around £1000. Yours could be higher or lower depending on your usage. Personally I would be putting £100 a month away as a safe guard for when the bills do eventually arrive.
Have the utility companies suggested setting up a monthly direct debit?£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

no they havent as they say they arent offically supplying us???? basically we are on a free line atm as they are supplying the building site (we are 26 flats all in with 170 roughyl still being built) so they cant take money from us till it is set up according to them, they just set a account will be set up when problems have been dealt with and letting/estate manager has been told to advise us of the same and just to put money aside each month which i am as obviously i dont want to be landed with a big bill
just wondered if there is a exact way to work out how much ive spent so far as i obviously know the amount of units

It depends where you live and what BG tariff you have.
If you budget for around 12p a unit, that will give you an idea of what you have spent(around £75)
However the 650 units in 3 summer months is not an indication of your winter consumption.
I would budget for around £100 a month.0 -
Hi yummymummy1987
We were in a similar situation as you, we moved into a new build whilst everything around us was like a bomb site.
For the first year, although we were signed up with EDF for our supply, we never received a bill from them. In the second year they started to bill us for the gas which we started paying via DD at this point and in the third year they started the elect which again we started paying via DD.
It transpired that for the first 3 years the contract was with the builders and they were actually paying for our usage until EDF were updated that the site had been finished. We found this odd, so contacted EDF reagarding this overselves and were told until the builders pulled out then they were liable for our usage (and the other 100 or so houses that had been built) and not to worry with reagrds of back payments as they could only charge from the day the builders agreed to hand over. The strange bit is that the we were being charged gas a year before the electric?
Here we are 5 years down the line, and EDF to this day haven't moaned, groaned or chased us for any payments previous to us taking over the utilities.
Im not saying this is going to be the same for you but this is our experience.0
