Is anyone familiar with buying (and selling) shares using this account?
There's something that isn't clear to me from the information they give.

If during market hours you choose to buy some shares and set a limit price of say 100, but it does not execute as the price is above 100 for the whole day, does the order carry forward to the next day? (i.e. if it then falls to below 100 the next day will it then buy them for 100?)

I'm guessing it shouldn't but it sounds like that it will carry through an order to the next day if it's placed outside of market hours (after 4.30pm the previous day) so it seems a bit ambiguous to me. Also, if you do place an order (with a limit) after 4.30pm on the previous day, will it only try to execute it at opening time the next day, or throughout the whole of the next day?

i dunno about Halifax, but many of the Online brokers will stay with a limit order for 30 days.

Thanks. So is there usually a way of cancelling the order if you change your mind before the limit is reached?

Yes....certainly. You retain full control.
